Commissioned from artist Luca Pannoli in 2013, “Circus” is a light installation that represents, through colorful figures of acrobats, acrobats and tightrope walkers, the circus world as a powerful symbol of the human condition, of our continuous balance between risk and wonder, order and chaos, fear and courage. A metaphor for life, a leap into the void (as Kierkegaard put it), the circus is both an ideal place and condition for the exaltation of imagination. The circus also embodies the human capacity to transform toil into beauty, gesture into art. Circus is a universe always in motion, suspended like a tightrope walker. Circus is harmony, jest, dexterity, laughter, emotion; just like life. The threads of light weave the stories of the circus people, eternal wayfarers of life serving the applause of the audience and at the same time rich in intense humanity.
