Extended description

Piazza Portanova is the beating heart of the city, the junction point between the charming historic center-with its narrow streets, alleys and artisan shops-and the modern Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, full of contemporary design stores. From the square you can also catch a glimpse of the famous waterfront, a historic “seaside” promenade beloved by citizens and tourists alike. Thus, there is no better place to host the symbol of Christmas: a giant lighted tree, visible from every street. Here, during the Salerno Luci d’Artista event, people gather to take photos and share the magic of the moment with friends and family. And it is in this widening that, according to tradition, the big Christmas tree is lit every year on December 8, Immaculate Conception Day.
