Extended description

In the populous neighborhood of Pastena it is possible to visit Villa Carrara. The villa, which belonged to the noble Carrara family, was a country residence, with an adjoining park that extended to the sea. During the 18th century it hosted Charles of Bourbon several times during his travels to his residence in Persano, then a hunting area. Today, Villa Carrara is home to theMunicipal Emeroteca Library, which boasts more than 13,000 volumes. The lush garden and spacious halls where demonstrations and events are hosted make this complex a lively cultural hub.

In the same neighborhood, just a short walk from the Church of the Holy Face, is the Mariele Ventre garden, named after the director of the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano who died prematurely. Equipped with a refreshment point, benches and vegetation that shelters from the summer heat, the garden is a small green corner where you can take a relaxing break.

Not too far from the better-known Parco del Mercatello is the Villa Comunale Ciro Bracciante, a positive testimony to a complex urban redevelopment project conducted in the 1990s by the city’s administration throughout the neighborhood. The villa is characterized by a large central flowerbed, a small amphitheater often used for performances.

Situated in the upper part of the Torrione district, the Galiziano Park covers an area of about 8,000 square meters, with paths completely free of architectural barriers. The park includes a regulation soccer field and a children’s play area, and can also accommodate dogs in a fenced space specially designed for our four-legged friends.
